Back to School with Stuck on You {Giveaway}

Great tips for packing Sub sandwiches in lunches

How is it possible that summer’s almost over? It always goes by much too quickly. Now I have to start thinking about school supplies, and new clothes, and homework, and after school activities, and packing lunches, and my head feels like it’s going to explode!  Luckily, we’re prepared for lunches because Stuck on You provided the boys with brand new personalized lunch kits and drinking bottles to start off their school year.  I already know what I’m going to be packing in these gorgeous lunch kits, because the boys have taken a liking to submarine sandwiches over the summer, so I have a feeling I’m going to be packing a lot of those.

Great tips for packing sub sandwiches in luches

Here are some tips for packing a perfect sub sandwich for your kid’s lunch:

  • Pack the vegetables (such as lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles) in a separate container lined with a paper towel, so that the sandwich doesn’t get soggy. Your child will have fun assembling their sandwich at lunch time.
  • Cut the top of your bun in a V-shape angle, so the sandwich fillings stay put.
  • You can assemble the bun and meat ahead of time and store them in the freezer, so they’re ready to go for easy lunch packing.  You can even add condiments as well, like mustard and butter, but leave out the mayonnaise because it doesn’t freeze well.
  • To keep your sandwich cool until lunch, add an ice pack, frozen juice box, or a frozen wet sponge in a Ziploc bag.

I don’t know what it is, but my kids go nuts for sub sandwiches.  Cole literally asks for one every day for lunch. That’s all he wants to eat!

My boys also went nuts for these Lunch Packs that Stuck on You sent to us. They loved that they were able to customize their own lunch-kits and bottles.  Cole kept his simple, with just his name and chose red (his favourite colour). Bennett chose a Robot design in Navy blue.  I couldn’t get over how many cute designs and fonts there were to choose from.  It was a lot of fun just browsing through them all.

Stuck on You Personalized Lunch Packs

When the packs arrived, I was really impressed by their quality. The lining in the lunch kits is really sturdy and thick with a reflective material, so it keeps food cool for a long time.  I was happy to see that the names and designs weren’t just attached with labels or stickers, they’re printed directly onto the products, so you don’t need to worry about them peeling off. This is particularly handy with the water bottles, which tend to get wet a lot.

I’ve also done a review previously of Stuck on You labels, along with ideas for Thermos lunches, if you’re interested in learning more about these great products.

    I freeze juice packs and place them in the kids’ lunch bags. It’ll help keep the rest of the food cold and the drink will slowly melt and they’ll have a cold refreshing drink ready to go at lunch.
