Salmon Burgers #FlavourStory {Giveaway}

Salmon Burgers

One of my favourite memories so far this summer was when the boys caught their very first fish. It was such a thrill for them to feel the tug on the end of the line as the fish grabbed hold of the bait. They were totally enthralled as the fisherman showed them how to reel the fish in and scoop it up with their net. There was a lot of giggling and squealing when they tossed the fish into the bucket and it splashed around wildly, throwing water in every direction. That evening, we grilled the fish on the barbecue so the boys were able to have a taste of the fish they had caught.

Once we had a taste of fresh fish on the grill, we couldn’t wait to have more. We didn’t catch the salmon for these burgers, but the boys did come with me to the store to pick it out and carried it home for me.  They’re such good helpers.

Make Salmon Bugers with Club House LaGrille seasoning

I tried out this salmon burger recipe from Clubhouse.ca using Club House La Grille Steakhouse Onion Burger Seasoning.  I love the combination of salmon and avocado in this recipe. It reminded me of a family favourite, salmon avocado sandwiches, that I often make for lunch.

Salmon Burgers

The kids didn’t love the burger, but they didn’t hate it either. Bennett said it was “a little bit good, but a little it bad.” Cole said it was “so-so.” Ayla was in an awful mood because she was covered with itchy mosquito bites from our camping trip, so she wasn’t feeling much like eating. She did perk up when I brought out the camera and had fun photo-bombing my pictures of the boys.

Salmon Burger Critics

Tony was really impressed with this meal. He often orders a salmon burger when we go out for dinner, and he declared that this burger was even better than any salmon burger he’s had in a restaurant.  I’ve never used this burger seasoning before (or any kind of burger seasoning for that matter), but I think I’ll be using it a lot from now on.

    I’ve NEVER tried to make a salmon burger before (and sadly being in Ontario we have limited access to really fresh salmon) but this looks delish and something I think my kids would love! I’m gonna try this as soon as Salmon goes on sale. Thanks for sharing!

    When I was in Peru about 10 years ago I tried guinea pig. Blech! It was not very enjoyable. Very greasy and lots of bones. Plus, it was weird trying it since my Dad was bred and showed guinea pigs so we always ahd a lot of them at home.

    I used to think I cooked well with spices. I thought I loved spicy food. Until I met my husband! He considered my spicy meals sweet. So one day I discovered ground ghost pepper at a little spice shop. The owner warned me to only put the tiniest amount in food. I dumped a teaspoon in his lunch for work. Needless to say he never laughed at my version of spice again! πŸ™‚

    I love to reduce the amount of salt I use in my dishes. Instead, I put spices to add the flavour – love the use of cayenne pepper, ground pepper, chili flakes … I guess you can tell I am a spicy type of gal. =D

    Not sure if it is a flavor story but my boyfriend and I love to just toss stuff together and see what happens. One of our favorites dishes happened this way. Mixed veggies tossed with a bit of nice olive oil, some parmesan, garlic, onion powder, steak spice, thyme and pepper. put in a foil container and covered with foil then cooked on the bbq. So good!
