Have you ever eaten cereal from a box and thought, “This is pretty good, but I bet it would be even better with a little bit of this and maybe a little less of that…” Wouldn’t it be great if you could customize your cereal exactly the way you like it? Well now you can do just that at a fun site called MixIt.ca. You get to customize everything, from the ingredients to the package and labels.
They offered me a chance to create two of my own custom tubes of cereal, so I let my 2 boys be my testers. They each navigated the website themselves to built their own cereals, and had a lot of fun being “cereal artists.”
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.jsThe process is simple, and described in the video under the start button on the main landing page. You start with a base cereal, then add fruits, nuts & seeds, and other extras. There were so many different and interesting choices, and I found it funny that the boys gravitated to many of the same ingredients, like Goji berries, oats, and cinnamon. Cole took his cereal-making very seriously, taking a long time and concentration to make the “perfect” mix. He was so excited about getting his cereal in the mail that he told his friends at school about it and brought a sample of the cereal with him to show his classmates.
I think this is a really neat idea for just about anyone, but especially kids, because when they make something themselves, they’re more likely to eat it. And the ingredients at Mixit.ca are good quality with plenty of healthy choices. They make great gifts, too! If you’re not sure about making your own cereal mix, there’s also a selection of ready-made mixes with cute names like “Wee Bee Honey Granola”, Twirling Strawberries” and “Puff the Dragon’s Flavours.” The boys named their mixes “Cole’s Healthy Snack” and “Bennett’s Raisin Puffs.” They were so thrilled to see their names on the cereal containers.
Once you order your mix, it can be shipped anywhere in Canada — for free if you buy 6 tubes or more. Or you can pick up your order at one of their collection points to save the shipping cost.

I have never heard of this….what a great idea. There once was a company that allowed you to do that with pet food…it was great till the government decided to change the rules. I will have a look at this for sure!!

I’m allergic to cinnamon, which most healthy cereals seem to add in huge doses. So this is amazing!
